The museum is somewhat remote (but not too far from Coyoacán), so it would be advisable to take a short tour of Coyoacán before or after visiting the MUAC. The MUAC is a 14,000-square-foot contemporary art museum on the site of Mexico City's largest public university. Designed by architect Teodoro Gonzalez de Leon, the building itself attracts architecture and design lovers.

MUAC would like to build up a collection of contemporary Mexican works of art from the 1950s onwards. The works range from paintings and drawings to video and sound installations.

The non-permanent exhibitions usually attract MUAC. They offer a wide range of well-curated contemporary art in a variety of media.
