DAY 1st & 2nd VICTORIA FALLS SAFARI LODGE, Victoria Falls

When you arrive at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be greeted and warmly welcomed before a road transfer to the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, where you will stay in connecting rooms for 2 nights. The lodge is located just 4km from the world-famous Victoria Falls and sits on an elevated plateau bordering the unfenced Zambezi National Park, making for spectacular views. Here you can expect hospitality, first-class cuisine and impeccable standards. The 72 rooms are furnished with attention to detail, luxuriously equipped and air-conditioned. The complex houses, among other things, a spa, room service, a library and a games room.



Activities:

The charming tourist town of Victoria Falls lies on the southern bank of the Zambezi River and is ideal to explore on foot. The place also offers a wide range of different outdoor activities, such as white water rafting, bungee jumping or a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. The impressive Victoria Falls are within walking distance from the city center and are one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

3rd - 5th day

MACHABA CAMP, Khwai Concession Area

CHOBE ELEPHANT CAMP, Chobe West
After breakfast you will be transferred to Kasane Airport by road transfer. From here we continue by small plane to Machaba Camp. The camp consists of 8 double tents and 2 family tents, one of which will be your home for the next 3 nights. All 10 of the camp's 10 safari-style luxury tents are equipped with private bathrooms and a romantic outdoor shower and are located under beautiful, large trees in the wildlife-rich Khwai area on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta. From the veranda of the tents you can watch animals every day that come to drink at the river in front of the camp



Activities
Since the Moremi Game Reserve regulations do not apply in the Khwai concession area, day and night game drives are permitted here, giving you and your family the opportunity to discover the nocturnal inhabitants of this unique environment. The activities on offer also include traditional mokoro excursions through the varied vegetation and, if booked in advance, walking safaris can also be organized.

The Camp
“Machaba” is the local Setswana name for the Sycamore fig tree, the tree of life. Machaba camp. At Machaba Camp, guests find relaxation in the midst of untouched nature and get to know the flora and fauna of the beautiful Khwai region. After exciting safari activities, guests can indulge in spa treatments from well-trained therapists in their own tent and then relax by the pool.

The tents
The camp consists of 8 luxury twin tents and 2 luxury family tents. All 10 luxury tents are built in classic 1950s safari style and are located in a shady gallery forest on the Khwai River with views over the famous Moremi Game Reserve. From the veranda of the tents you can watch the daily parade of animals that come to drink at the river in front of the camp. The paths between the tents wind along the river between beautiful, large trees.

Footsteps CAMP, Okavango Delta
After a morning activity, if time permits, and a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred in a light aircraft to Footsteps Camp, where you will stay again for 3 nights. What is particularly attractive is the fact that your family has a private camp, so that the daily activities can be completely flexibly adapted to your interests and the age of the family members. The camp is located in the private Shinde concession, which offers a wide variety of living spaces and has 6 beds. (The minimum size of a family is 3, the maximum size is 6 people and the minimum age of the children is 7 years)



Activities
The Young Explorer programs are specially developed for families to enable them to experience the wonders of African nature together in a pleasant atmosphere. Since the camp is available exclusively to you, the activities are adapted to the needs of children - not too long and varied. The guides of the Young Explorer’s groups are very experienced in dealing with and working with children and motivate the young participants to actively participate. This means parents can take part in the activities as they wish, but can also sit back, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

The Camp
Shinde Footsteps is located in the Shinde Concessions in the magical landscape of the Okavango Delta, which offers a variety of different habitats: wetlands, steppe landscapes, palm islands and river landscapes. The main area of the camp consists of a covered dining area and a cozy fireplace where you can exchange impressions of the past day in a romantic atmosphere. There is also a small viewing platform that allows guests to observe wild animals up close.

Simple & Comfortable
The tents
The authentic camp has 3 simple but comfortable Meru-style safari tents, each with an outdoor bush toilet and bush shower. If you want to be pampered after an exciting day in the bush, you can unwind in a small bush bathtub provided by the camp. Footsteps is also the base camp for the very successful “Young Explorers”. This program allows families to book the entire camp exclusively and a specialized guide accompanies the large and small guests in family-oriented and child-friendly activities.

Due to the camp's location, Shinde Footsteps offers a balanced mix of water and land activities. Explore this stunning, diverse environment on game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions, boat trips and walking safaris. You will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of animals including elephants, wild dogs, lions, leopards, hyenas, tsessebe, kudu, zebras and giraffes. The diverse habitat also provides refuge for numerous bird species and some special animal species such as the rare sitatunga.

9th & 10th day

KALAHARI PLAINS CAMP, Central Kalahari Game Reserve

If there is time, you will do another activity together in the morning before you are taken by small plane via Maun Airport to the Kalahari Plains Camp after breakfast. You spend 2 nights at a huge salt pan in a raised family tent with a small roof terrace where you can spend the night under the starry sky. Enjoy fantastic views of the vastness of the Kalahari. The main building of the camp consists of a lounge, a dining room and a bar as well as a swimming pool with a separate terrace. The entire system is supplied with warm water and electricity using solar cells.



Activities
The camp is located in the northern plains of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, where the savanna is interspersed with deciduous tree and acacia groves. It is one of Africa's largest nature reserves and has a remarkably high population of large predators such as lions, cheetahs and black-backed hyenas. Particularly in the summer months when the desert comes to life with the onset of rains, Kalahari Plains Camp offers unbeatable safari experiences on game drives or on guided walking safaris with the San Bushmen. You will also get an insight into the fascinating culture of this people.

The camp is located on the edge of a forest and offers 8 guest rooms (including a family room). The main area of the lodge consists of a dining area, a lounge and a viewing deck. There is also a swimming pool, a small reading corner and a souvenir shop. Nxai Pan Camp fits perfectly into its surroundings and is powered by solar energy.

All rooms are equipped with an en-suite bathroom and have insulated, thatched roofs which ensure cool room temperatures in summer and pleasant warmth in winter.

Zebra migration

Nxai Pan is known for its large herds of springbok. As soon as the first rains begin, numerous gemsbok, elephants and zebras move into the area. In addition, thousands of zebras give birth to their offspring at this time of year - an unforgettable experience. The large herds of animals attract numerous predators such as lions, cheetahs, jackals, spotted hyenas (and the rare black-backed hyenas), the highly endangered wild dogs and the mysterious leopard. Nxai Pan is an ecologically sensitive area, which is why driving after dark and off-road driving are not permitted.

DEPARTURE

11th day The safari ends in Maun


Today is the last day of your family safari, on which you experienced many unforgettable moments together and gained new experiences. After a final morning activity, if time permits, and a delicious breakfast, you will be flown by light aircraft to Maun Airport for your further travel arrangements
