♡ 6 - To Copper Canyon on rails
Copper Canyon on rails
The Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range is located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
The long
Copper Canyon was created by the formerly strong
course of the river -
also known as
"Copper Gorge". The name derives from the copper-colored canyon rock. The
approximately
400 km long railway line through the canyon takes around 14 hours and can be strenuous at times. However, the
exciting
ride is worth it, because you will be rewarded with
impressive viewsand a
scenic panorama, which
you don't see every day. This last
railway line in Mexico starts at sea level and takes you up to the higher desert plains
over rock and stone, through alpine forests,
subtropical valleys and deep canyons. Even the
second largest waterfall
in Mexicois located in the region, which is still inhabited by indigenous peoples. If you're looking for a special
kind of nature experience, you've come to the right place:
Whether it's hiking, animal watching, camping or pure tranquility in the
wilderness - a lot is possible in this region.
